About Maia Hirasawa
Since her breakthrough in 2007, Maia Hirasawa has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices on both the Swedish and Japanese music scenes. A singer, songwriter and composer, she has released seven acclaimed albums and effortlessly moves between Swedish, English and Japanese in her songwriting.
Her debut album Though, I'm Just Me introduced songs such as And I Found This Boy and Gothenburg, while her interpretation of The Worrying Kind in Melodifestivalen further established her as one of Sweden's most celebrated artists. In Japan, her song Boom became a symbol of hope following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, earning her widespread recognition.
Alongside her work as a recording artist, Maia is also an acclaimed composer for film, television and advertising. Her latest album, If This Is the End It Sure Is a Beautiful One, was released in 2023.
With I Am a Woman, Maia embarks on one of her most personal artistic journeys to date. The upcoming album explores the emotional and creative landscape of the female hormonal cycle, placing the body, emotion and lived experience at the heart of the music.
