29 April | Book launch with Emilia Bergmark-Jiménez and the Swedish Down Syndrome Association
29 April | Step into the stories behind the images as Emilia Bergmark-Jiménez, the Swedish Down Syndrome Association and families come together for an engaging conversation, celebrating the new book Welcome – having a child with Down syndrome.
Overview
Date: Wednesday, April 29
Time: 18:00–20:00
Location: The Studio, Floor 3
Join us for the launch of the new book Welcome – Having a Child with Down Syndrome, in which eleven parents, a sibling pair, and a grandmother share personal stories of life with a young child with Down syndrome. Together they offer a nuanced portrait of life exploring love, everyday moments, joy, and uncertainty - celebrating children who, like all others are unique, radiant, and deeply loved individuals.
Photographer Emilia Bergmark-Jiménez has met and portrayed all the families featured in the book. Through her images, alongside the stories, we are invited into both the intimate and expansive moments of life – the serious as well as the joyful. The book has been created through the collective dedication of members and friends of the Swedish Down Syndrome Association, with the aim of welcoming and supporting new families. This will be an evening of care and connection. For anyone who has felt the love for a child, from a child, or for someone with Down syndrome – this evening is for you.
Participants: Emilia Bergmark-Jiménez, the Swedish Down Syndrome Association, as well as contributing writers and parents.
