Lebohang Kganye
Lebohang Kganye (1990) is a Johannesburg-based South African artist and one of the most prominent contemporary voices today. On March 6, she comes to Stockholm with Le Sale ka Kgotso, an exhibition created exclusively for Fotografiska. Working at the intersection of photography, sculpture and installation, Kganye draws on family archives and staged environments to explore how personal narratives shape and challenge broader cultural stories. Visitors will navigate full-scale models of homes built as part of a South African socio-economic housing program during President Nelson Mandela’s administration following the end of apartheid in 1994. Through interconnected rooms, layers of family memory, mythology and collective storytelling come together. The exhibition investigates the home as both a place of safety and a space of tension charged with history and identity.
